By using History killer (the “site”), you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.
The site is run by [Owner name or business name] (“we”, “us”). In these terms, “you” means anyone who visits or uses the site.
1. What the site is
History killer publishes guides, articles and tools about online privacy and reducing tracking. It’s for general information only.
- No guarantee of anonymity. Following our guides can reduce how much you’re tracked, but no method makes anyone fully invisible online. You remain responsible for your own security and privacy decisions.
- Not professional advice. Nothing on the site is legal, security or technical advice for your specific situation. For that, speak to a qualified professional.
- Information can go out of date. Software, services and tracking methods change quickly. We try to keep content accurate but can’t promise it’s complete or current.
2. The connection trace
The front page shows a “connection trace”: details your browser sends to every website, such as your IP address, browser, platform, languages, time zone, screen size and user-agent string. It exists to show you what any site can see.
- The trace is generated when the page loads and shown only to you.
- The theme doesn’t save the trace to a database. Our web host may still keep standard server logs, as described in our Privacy Policy.
- Details such as the ISP hostname come from public lookups and may be inaccurate.
3. Acceptable use
Privacy is a right, and the guides here are meant to protect it. You agree not to use the site, or anything you learn from it, to:
- break any law, or help anyone else break one;
- harass, stalk, defraud or harm another person;
- get into systems, accounts or data you aren’t authorised to access;
- attack, overload, scrape at scale or otherwise disrupt the site;
- upload or post malware, spam, or content that’s unlawful or infringes someone else’s rights.
We may block access for anyone who breaks these rules.
4. Third-party links, tools and products
The site links to other websites, apps and services, including privacy tools we write about. We don’t control them and aren’t responsible for their content, security, privacy practices or availability. Their own terms apply when you use them.
Some links may be affiliate links or lead to merchandise. If you buy something through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Any purchase is a contract between you and that seller, not us.
5. Comments and messages you send
You keep ownership of comments and messages you send us. By posting a comment, you allow us to display, store and moderate it on the site.
We may edit, hide or remove any comment, for example if it’s off-topic, abusive or breaks section 3. Don’t include personal details you don’t want made public, because comments are visible to everyone.
6. Our content
The History killer name, logo, articles, graphics and site design belong to us or our licensors. You may read, share links to and print pages for personal, non-commercial use. You may quote short extracts with a link back to the original page.
Don’t copy, republish or sell substantial parts of the site without our written permission.
7. Disclaimers and liability
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”. We don’t promise it will always be online, error-free or free of viruses, and we may change or remove any part of it at any time.
As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or your reliance on its content. This includes loss of data, profits or business, and any harm resulting from privacy or security steps you take or don’t take.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t legally be limited, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you’re a consumer, your statutory rights aren’t affected.
8. Privacy
How we handle personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy. It forms part of these terms.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when they last changed. If you keep using the site after an update, you accept the new terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [England and Wales]. Any disputes will be handled by the courts of [England and Wales].
